| Project Good Neighbor |
As a public utility, Alcorn County Electric Power Association (ACE) has a long tradition of service to our members and the community. We care about our members in need, those not able to pay their bill due to emergencies. This is where Project Good Neighbor can make a difference. Project Good neighbor will provide our members an opportunity to help meet the emergency electric needs of the less fortunate in our community. You may become a part of Project Good Neighbor by pledging as little as $1.00 per month or a one-time donation, each can be added to you bill, or you may enclose a donation (checks only) with you next bill statement. (See form Project Good Neighbor.pdf) |
Who will receive the funds? |
| The funds will go to households that need help but other wise may not get it. It could be an elderly couple trying to get by on a small fixed income, or an ill or handicapped person with no visible means of support. It could be a single parent with young children or a family whose breadwinner is out of a job. Project Good Neighbor is for families or individuals needing emergency help. It is temporary help and is not to be used as on ongoing source of supplementary income. The money collected is to be used to pay for emergency cases only. |
Who will make Project Good Neighbor Work? |
| Corinth Welfare Association (CWA) will manage Project Good Neighbor. CWA is a private, non-profit United Way agency governed by a local board of directors. CWA was organized in the early 1930's to meet the needs of those less fortunate in Corinth and Alcorn County by giving assistance in utilities, food and rent. CWA works with other local service programs to coordinate services on behalf of the client. All clients served by CWA are screened based on income and need, and each case is documented. To apply for help, phone or visit CWA located in City Hall, 300 Childs Street. Telephone: 662-287-5157 |
How do I know the money I give will go to help the needy? |
| You have our word that every dollar donated to Project Good Neighbor will go directly to the emergency fund administrated by Corinth Welfare Association. No salaries or other expenses are to be paid out of these gifts. |
